Bodyshaming the "Bodyshamer"?

Lately, I had a stream of opinions being brought to my attention by a few of my readers. There was a post on The Bump where a user, SomersIsles, created a post called "Most annoying pinner ever" in which she brought up the Postpartum Pressures post I had written a few weeks ago (which can be viewed HERE). She stated I was a "hypocrite" for writing this article and then posting a picture of myself with a flat belly 8 days postpartum. Usually, I do not feel the need to explain myself, but when you call me out, better know I will respond.

Let me get one thing straight. I never said in my article that we should all look like Kate Middleton and have a mummy tummy after birth-nor did I say we should all have washboard abs like the model. I was not even comparing the two ladies. This post was meant to bring attention to the fact that both of these postpartum bodies were criticized for how they looked. And I post a photo and then the SAME thing happens to me. Amazing. I was stating that no matter HOW you LOOK, your postpartum belly/body is beautiful. If I had a belly, I WOULD HAVE POSTED IT!

About my 8 day postpartum picture. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would bounce back with a flat belly THAT quickly. You, my readers, asked if I would post a postpartum picture and I gladly agreed. Did I have to? Nope. But you asked so I promised. Now, in this post on The Bump, I also see people complaining that I am "bragging." If you want to see it that way, then yes, maybe I am-just a little bit. After all, I worked very hard to eat clean and stay active throughout those ten months. I think I can be proud of myself.

I then see those who are saying that I make them feel badly about themselves.
Please know: THAT IS NOT MY GOAL! My goal here with Diary of a Fit Mommy is to lead the pack of healthy pregnancies. I am so sorry if you are on bedrest or for some reason did not feel up to working out or eating clean during your pregnancy. Do I think you are a terrible person for not doing so just because I chose to? Heck no. I am not the one judging here, yet I am constantly being judged which makes me wonder why I even post personal stuff on here at all. My mission is to help (those who want the help) mommies lead a more fit life during their pregnancies. That is why I do what I do. I LOVE helping and inspiring. My postpartum pic was meant to inspire. Never did I say, this is HOW you should look. This is just how I happened to bounce back and you can too. It was meant to ENCOURAGE. I realize not ever body is the same-hence, the Postpartum Pressures article I wrote with Kate Middleton in it.

Now, the "most annoying pinner" comment. Sure, I pin A LOT. Its a business. I love pinning because its fun-but I also do it to attract new followers. If you do not like my pins or think I am annoying, please unfollow me. I promise, I will be okay.

On a final note:

To those who I legitimately hurt or offended by my postpartum photo-I am deeply sorry. Was not my intention! If you have a problem with me, EMAIL me. This is why I have a contact button on my page. I love opinions and I am open to each and every one. I don't understand the need to be discussed on a pregnancy birth club forum, but whatever floats your boat.

To the rest of my loyal readers: Thank you for understanding my true intentions!

End of rant.

Boba Carrier Review + GIVEAWAY

Hi new moms & moms to be!

Looking for a great quality baby carrier for your newborn? Look no further! I have teamed up with Boba to offer you a review and giveaway on one of their top of the line baby carriers.

As a new mom, a carrier is a MUST HAVE! Sometimes, when you need to make a quick trip somewhere, taking the stroller seems a bit drastic. Personally, I love to wear my Boba carrier at the grocery store since bringing the stroller isn't an option and I have a convertible carseat that can't easily be pulled out of the car and placed in a shopping cart.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the Boba Carrier 4G in the Tweet pattern which features a cute design with tiny birds.

I was so surprised at the durability of this carrier. It featured little stirrups for the baby's feet once he gets long enough which many carriers do not have! This is a very important feature because those stirrups can prevent your baby from developing hip dysplasia. The carrier also featured a hood for your infant to keep the head in place (from bobbing around).

While wearing the carrier, I felt very secure! Most carriers, I feel the need to hold with both arms at all times due to the paranoia that my little one may fall out of that  the straps will come loose. I have got to admit that after using the Boba, I have thrown my Moby wraps away!

The pattern is bright and vibrant. This Boba carrier comes in many different colors & patterns to suit your needs and the gender of your child. I selected the Tweet pattern because it was unisex-I can wear it for the next baby if it happens to be a girl (but I want another boy!!!). My baby's head rested very comfortably on the carrier-he loved the snug feel and fell right asleep.

The back of the carrier featured two heavy duty strap that promises the safety of your young one. It was very snug and secure! Overall, I am 100% happy with this carrier!

Motivational Monday: Jamie Corbin

Hi ladies! Today, I have a special guest for Motivational Monday who is here to tell her weightloss story!

Jamie's story:
"I am a 26 year old mother of two kids - an almost 4 year old boy and an almost 2 year old girl. I have been overweight most of my life, even as a young child I would consider myself "bigger". I tried many "diets & fads" throughout my teenage years (starving myself, which obviously didn't work and wasn't healthy) and I tried diet pills and other unhealthy methods.

Shortly after getting married (at 22) (I was around 160/170 pounds at that time) I found out I was pregnant with my son, I gained close to 40 pounds with this pregnancy and my weight ballooned up to 210. I never did lose the weight from this pregnancy and was easily fitting into size 19 jeans and 2x shirts. I was also eating the worst foods, Large Sized Fast food, fried foods and lots of junk food.
Two years after my son was born I found out I was pregnant with my daughter - I actually lost weight with this pregnancy and only gained 4 pounds. I was still right around 210 pounds, I was depressed and angry with myself that I let myself get this way. I had no energy to play with my son and the couch really did become my best friend.

I had a turn around shortly after my daughters birth in May 2012 - once I got the Okay at my 6 week OB appointment I decided to try exercising (I NEVER exercised in the past). I started the Julian Micheal's 30 day shred and stuck to it. I also made a choice to become a Vegetarian which was very easy for me to do and I also looked into running (I also never ran in the past). I started the couch to 5k running plan, finished it and in the process feel in love with running.

I did my first 5k in October 2012, and I finished it without even having to walk - I was so proud of myself and my time of 31 minutes. I have done many 5k's since that one in October and even got my time down to 24 minutes. I also just finished my first Half Marathon of many in December 2013. I am really hoping to achieve another goal a full Marathon in the fall (2014).

Since this journey began - I lost over 70 pounds, I am now able to fit in a size 4 pants and a small shirt. I went from 210 pounds which was pretty big seeing that I am only 5 feet 3 inches tall to 130 pounds. My journey continues everyday, I enjoy working out and running - I learned that my body can do so many amazing things and that no matter what goal I put in front of me as long as I am dedicated and put in the work I can do it! I have never been happier - this journey so far has been truly amazing!!"

If you would like to be featured on the next Motivational Monday, please email your transformation story along with a photo or two to me HERE!
