I would instantly almost chuckle out loud and roll my eyes! Really? YOU? Tired? You stay at home all day! You don't work or do anything!
I didn't realize I would soon learn that there's a whole 'nother side to the stay at home mother's day than just "lounging around, not working."
I never envisioned that I would become a stay at home mother. After all, I went to college, became a nurse, and started working right off of the bat. But when I married my husband, we discussed the possibility of me staying home once we had babies. I was super excited. As soon as I became pregnant, I stayed at home and enjoyed it! I worked from home and it was very relaxing. I even got free time!
Once my son was born, my role at home became more serious. I obviously tended to his every need and I look forward to whatever free time I had that day to get some blogging or work done... if that free time ever came. I didn't realize how stay at home moms have their work cut out for them! Their job is a lot harder than it may appear.
Here's how my typical day goes:
Wake up (or my son wakes up rather) around 6:30 am.
Feed.
Play.
He sleeps, I try to fit in some "me" time around 8am or so. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not. I then make myself breakfast.
He wakes up.
Feed.
Play.
When he is asleep again, around lunch time, I make myself lunch. I try to get some chores done.
He wakes up.
Feed.
Play.
Nap time again for the little one so I try to fit in some work or cleaning.
He wakes up.
Feed.
Play.
Daddy gets home so he may or may not nap.
I try to spend time with my husband though I may not have finished my work or cleaning for the day.
Grey naps once more.
I cook dinner. My husband and I eat before our son wakes up.
He wakes up.
Feed.
Play.
Bath.
Good night. But it doesnt stop there. A few hours later...
Feed.
Sleep
Feed.
Sleep
Feed
Sleep
Wake up at 6:30am.
As you can see, a mother's job never ends. I never once thought that I would have trouble getting things done as a stay at home mom! But it is the truth. I am constantly doing something.
A stay at home mother is worth a ton and I am so happy that I get to do it because there's no other job in the world that I would rather take than to be a full time wife and mother.
But now I know.
Stay at home moms DO do something!
