My first trimester, I woke up at 5:30am and went to the gym for an hour before beginning my full time day job as a nurse. I did this 5 times a week. Cardio with weights, but focusing more on weights during the first part of my pregnancy. (15 min cardio, 30 min weights)
My second trimester, I upped my cardio and did equal amounts of cardio and weight training: 30 minutes of each or so. I started eating a cheat meal or two per week during this time to remind myself that I am human and I do love a good indulgence. I was still at the gym 5 times a week.
My third trimester; my body changed BIG TIME. I did weights up until my 36th week and started doing 45-60 minutes of cardio instead, since I was getting bigger. The cardio helped relieve my back and hip pains! My forms of cardio were treadmill, elliptical, and jogging on a track. I was only going to the gym 3-4 times owe week at this point because the fatigue was setting in-but I kept going.
My last workout was 2 hours before my labor began. It was a 1.5 mile walk before dinner around 5pm and at 7pm, contractions began. That same day, that morning, I ran 3 miles. I never stopped running and jogging during pregnancy and I'm so glad I didn't! It truly helped to start labor-on my due date-and kept me fit. It also kept my endurance up for a better labor and delivery.
5 minutes upon giving birth, my tummy was GONE. I was shocked. I literally shocked even myself. I was happy yes, but kinda sad because I had planned this whole postpartum weight-loss journey and to share my weight-loss with you all but the truth is, 7 days after giving birth-I lost all my weight.
How did I do it?
By keeping fit, active, and a clean diet during pregnancy-the whole time. This goes to show you that if you take care of your body, it will take care of you. Also, Breastfeeding has helped tremendously as well. I never thought this would be true!
Am I happy with my postpartum body?
Yes-to an extent. I'm still very soft. My bee journey is to transform my body: tone it & build muscle. I don't want skinny. I want strong and lean. I want powerful curves.
Please follow along as I start my journey here in the next few weeks after I get the clear from my doctor.
