5 Tips to Motivate Yourself for Early Morning Workouts

Are you guilty of hitting the snooze button every time your alarm goes off? Don’t feel guilty-you are not the only one! Finding the motivation to wake up early for a workout can be challenging, but it is not impossible to get into a habit of doing so! I have found that exercising first thing in the morning gives me more energy to make it throughout the rest of the day. It is also a relief to get the workout off of your chest; not to mention that you are more likely to go when you make it your first priority of the morning. However, there are a few things that you can do to help make your morning a lot easier.

Here are my tips to finding motivation first thing in the morning:

Create a routine! Creating a routine will help make your mornings a lot smoother and get your body into a familiar habit. The first few days will be the most difficult and it will turn your world upside down, but keep with the routine and your body will recognize this new habit and make it easier on you the next day.

Stash your alarm on the other side of the room. By purposely moving your alarm clock or cell phone across the room, this forces you to wake up enough to stand up on your own. When you stand, you will less likely hit the snooze button.

Sleep in your workout gear! This tip always helps me to get going in the morning. Getting dressed is always an excuse that most people have when considering waking up early for a workout. If you go to sleep in your workout clothes or at least sit your outfit out nearby, you will feel more motivated to rise and shine!

Go to bed early. This tip makes things easier on you. When you get enough sleep, waking up early will not affect you as much. The mere thought of waking up early can seem very drastic to some! Make sure you get enough beauty sleep-at least 8 hours a night-and pick the perfect time to wake up according to when you went to sleep.

Enlist a friend or partner! When all else fails, ask a friend to call you when you would like to wake up or have a friend go with you to the gym! This is the ultimate motivator for me because when you see your friend or partner giving the effort, you are twice as likely to give the same!
