People ask me all the time what diet I was on to lose 40lbs and what Ive been doing for the last two years to maintain my abs.. I honestly would have to say Paleo, mainly. Here lately, I have replaced rice, quinoa, and grains with spinach, peppers, kale, and other veggies instead. I noticed a huge difference when I did that-
I got LEANER!
Nowadays, I try to get my carbs from natural sources such as veggies in particular so I tend to abide by the Paleo Diet. Since I have been cooking dinner for my husband, he has lost 28lbs (and counting) since I switched from rice, pasta, and quinoa to the spinach, kale, and peppers.
Amazing right??
So WHAT IS Paleo you might ask if you're unfamiliar with the term.
Paleo stands for Paleolithic and is also known as the "Caveman Diet" in which you primarily eat what the Earth gives you. You do not eat out of a box. When grocery shopping, you primarily shop in the meats and produce sections only.
What you can eat:
- Meats
- Fowl
- Fish
- Eggs
- Veggies
- Fruits
- Nuts
- Tubers
What you cannot eat:
- Refined Sugars
- Grains
- Starchy Tubers
- Legumes
- Dairy
- Salt
Think of this diet this way-this is the way God intended us to eat.
He didn't expect us to make foods, put chemicals in them to prolong their life span, and place them in cardboard boxes or plastic wrappers.
All of the food you will eat on this diet is UNALTERED.
Most CrossFitters abide by the Paleo Diet and follow it thoroughly. As you can see, when you combine healthy eating (Paleo) and working out, this is how you can look!
