How I Workout

I had a request from a reader to post my workout and what I like to do in the gym. I never was a huge gym buff-the first time I lost weight, I did it without working out and through diet alone. In the end, I ended up skinny yes but this time I wanted to be muscular because muscle burns fat even several hours after your completed workout. 

First of all my favorite time of the day to workout is first thing in the morning! I wake up and immediately go to the gym because if I dont go before work, I am LESS likely to go after work due to making excuses that I am "tired" or just dont "feel like it." So I go first thing with no excuse.

Since I have been pregnant, I have gone to the gym almost religiously as much as I did before. I havent had to modify my workouts just yet, but I know I will have to toward my 3rd trimester.

The first thing I do in the gym is always WEIGHTS. I always always always save cardio for last. This article will explain why I do this:

My favorite machine is the leg press because not only does it tone my thighs to reduce the appearance of cellulite, it also makes my butt PERKY! Thats right! After just one month of doing 80lb leg presses, my husband said to me "Wow, you butt looks soooo good!" Mission accomplished! 12 reps, 3 sets, 80lbs for butt.

Other favorite weight machines are the thigh adductor & thigh abudctor which works both inner and outer thighs-my problem areas! 12 reps, 3 sets, 70lbs for legs

As for arms, basic lifting with heavy dumbells and the chest press will do the trick! I usually do not focus on my arms too much since they aren't my target problem area. 12 reps, 3 sets, 50lbs for arms

Now, speaking of cardio. My all time favorite is the ELLIPTICAL. If you do it correctly, you can end up burning a TON of calories from it. However, I am not a big cardio machine person. I rather do Zumba, dance, or go jogging outdoors. I also love swimming in the ocean since its practically my backyard. Last night my friends, husband, and I went bowling and it was tons of fun-I was also surprised at how many calories one hour of bowling burns! I work two jobs so I run around constantly and that helps as well.

This honestly is pretty much how I workout. I try not to skip workouts now because my body is growing daily and I need to get stronger to make the weight much less bearing on my tiny petite frame.

  1. Can you tell me what you do for abs, also abs when pregnant? I'm going into my second trimester and am not sure what to do for my abs.
