How to Freeze Avocados to Stay Fresh

Avocadoes are expensive. Well, more expensive than your average produce. The other day while I was at the supermarket, there was a HUGE sale on avocados at 50 cents each instead of $1.19 on any other average day so I HAD to grab a ton.

I actually ended up with so many avocados I did not know what to do. I got to thinking, "Can I freeze these?"

I went to researching and, sure enough, you can!

There are two ways you can do it, either halved or pureed. Here's how it's done:

    • Wash the avocado, skin still on.
    • Cut the fruit in half, and peel.
    • If you are opting to keep them as halves, put them in a Ziploc bag and freeze.
    • If you're pureeing, either mash the avocados with a fork or in a food processor with a little bit of lime or lemon.
